Is it possible to attach word files, or other formats to emails?? It seems that the Lammps-users Digest scrubs any attachments if I just add them when I email. If I attach text files, it simply appends them to the email, but does not include them as an attachment (Which would be much clearer for people to refer to)?

it is a very bad idea to attach word files. they are not portable
across platforms, a popular vehicle to distribute spam or malware and
require additional effort to read for most people that read/process a
lot of e-mail (as they tend to use text mode mail programs).

people that are most likely to respond usually don't subscribe to the
digested version, but the regular mail format and there attachments
seem to remain unprocessed.
