I would like to get the most recent version of the lammps code.
I am using the ubuntu version right now. But, the latest build on that is May 27th 2014. Is there more recent ubuntu version out there that I am just not pointed to.
My alternative is to use the source. I have gotten the latest svn version. I am having trouble building it however. Is there a HOWTO out there might help me with some of my snags?

have you looked at the LAMMPS manual?

there are lots of details. there also are makefiles tailored for
ubuntu in the LAMMPS distribution (src/MAKE/MACHINES/Makefile.ubuntu
and .../Makefile.ubuntu_simple) that list the prerequisite packages to
be installed in the comments at the beginning of the files.
