CaF2 indentation problem

Greetings,

I have been experiencing some problems with my nanoindentation. It appears that the indenter is experiencing a great amount of force (seen from the 4[1] 4[2] 4[3] outputs as the indentation is ongoing) even before it contacts my sample: 55x55x55 Angstrom CaF2 sample.

Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?

I have attached the input file and datafile to the email.

Would really appreciate any suggestions

Regards

Janel

how far away? and how do you determine the distance? and under which
condition do you expect contact?

i suspect you are misinterpreting the fix indent documentation.

I have attached the input file and datafile to the email.

rather than attaching an input for a huge system, that nobody is
likely to run to check your observations.
it would be much more helpful (to yourself), to set up a small and
fast to run test system (with a smaller indenter) and make some
experiments and validation tests, that determine whether you are
reading the docs right.
LAMMPS ships with an indent example, so that would be a good starting point.
