Creating an atomic sphere in LAMMPS

Dear All:

Is there some easy way to create an atomic sphere (bcc/fcc/hcp) within lammps without first creating a cube, , then defining spherical regions, and finally deleting atoms outside the spherical region?

what keeps you from using the spherical region directly when creating the atoms?
