Hi
I am interested in using fix ave/spatial but with a dynamic binning.
Instead of using " origin = lower or center or upper or coordinate
value (distance units)" can the code be manipulated for a variable
as origin?
something like
variable COM equal xcm (polymer)
which is changing on the fly consistently.

no - it can't - someone would have to code it,
and you would have to think about when the
bins should be changed. Changing them continuously
during a time-average window is somewhat counter
to the idea of what a spatial bin average means.

it probably would be just as simple and give a comparable result to
put a spatial restraint on that group via fix spring. this way the
center of mass would oscillate around the origin location.
