figure of merit?

Hi All,

I am running some experiments to compare the performance of different OS kernels for a number of science apps. At the end of a lammps run, it spits out some stuff like Tau/day timestep/s, looptime. Which of these is sufficient to use as a performance metric?

​all of them. they are all based on the same data. however, please keep in
mind, that LAMMPS contains a large variety of different compute kernels,
many of which have different performance characteristics, depending on
system size and number of parallel instances. thus no single number can be
representative for LAMMPS as a whole.​ please see
