I intend to perform simulations with this newly available potential file (http://www.ctcms.nist.gov/potentials/U-Zr.html), but the publisher has stated that: “The files attached are the potential files for DYNAMO. It should be noted that use of this potential in LAMMPS requires LAMMPS to have a modified cut-off function before it is compiled.”
I do not fully understand, what he means by “modified cut-off function”. Can anyone kindly explain this to me?

it means that you need to modify the source code in lib/meam
accordingly before compiling your LAMMPS executable and the MEAM
library.
you will have to obtain the details from the author of the potential files.
