I want to use the genetic algorithm to minimize the CV, but it seems that this genetic algorithm is only included in the mmaps, not in maps. Can I use the mmaps in binary system?

Yes, mmaps works for binaries.
The input and output files are just a little bit different to allow for more species (especially true for the ground state hull).
