Geometry check

Dear all,

I am new to LAMMPS. I am studying aluminium fracture test.
As I am creating several geometries for my test, everytime for a new geometry it has to run a complete script which takes approx. a day which makes it difficult for me if I just want to see the initial geometry.
Is there any possible way to see the geometry without running the entire script, so that I can edit the geometry if needed before running the simulation.
Thank you in advance.

With regards,

Hi Nisha,

If you use the write_data command after initializing your geometry, it will write a LAMMPS data file that you can visualize in a program like OVITO. This avoids any need to run your simulation. You can also use the dump command to output geometry regularly. You can visualize frames from your dump file before your simulation has finished.

Best,

Thomas

you do not need to run a simulation to output you geometry. to
validate your initial geometry, you can use the "write_dump" command
to output a single frame containing your initial geometry. you don't
even need a visualization program, as you can use image style dumps to
output an image directly from the simulation. please see the LAMMPS
manual for more details.
