I am generating atoms of type 3 in a region and defining that region as group ‘lower’. After that I am creating atoms of type 2 in that same region. Now, are these new atoms part of group lower?
I want to define a separate group for these new atoms in that same region. How to do that?

no. why should they? groups are defined when you
issue the group command and don't change after than.
I want to define a separate group for these new atoms in that same region.
How to do that?
group by type? you can also create intersections of group.
