Hi dear all,
i want to install lammps on a single processer 2.0 Ghz system having a red hat enterprise linux 5, having gcc as as c++ compiler and gfortron as fortron compiler.I try to install lammps but cant be able to do this even up to my under standings i follow the manual but at the end a lot of errors appear in making lammps.
plz help me by telling a simple way of installing lammps according to my system and compilers. and also kindly guide me for the changes nessery to be made in the Makefile.linux. I am actually working 1st time with linux operating system.

the you should first take a course in how to generally compile software on linux
and how makefiles work and so on. you can lift some simple stuff off
this webpage,
but you _have_ to talk to some local linux and programming expert to get help
on the system specific basics.

trying to use a large package like lammps without knowing the basics of
the underlying operating system is like driving a car without brakes: sooner
or later you will hit something and will get "bruised".
