Yes, we get a lot of rightful scepticism like yours. The field is plagued with proprietary formats, closed systems, and very specialised, but also very stiff, tool chains. The NFDI project will be based on a significant culture shift. We see that more open format are developed and that tool/instrument vendors feel some pressure. But even with very favourable developments, experiment data RDM requires much more customisation in terms of parsers/converters, specific workflows, infrastructure and tool integration. Therefore, nomad has to get more flexible. It will be more like a framework than an out-of-the-box solution. I guess this is also what you mean by “fine-tuned”.
