how to thermostat thermal (non-shearing) components of velocity

Dear Lammps users,

I was reading lammps website on methods of measuring viscosity. It was said that in order to prevent the fluid from heating up, the thermal (non-shearing) components of velocity should be thermostated. If I use Nose-Hoover thermostat using NVT command, does only thermal component of velocity get thermostated?

Thanks so much for your help Steve. Since I am simulating couette flow by applying the shear flow through moving walls instead of using “fix deform”, I can’t use “fix nvt/sllod”. I want to use “compute temp/partial” to remove velocity components in the direction of streaming flow from temperature calculation.
