there is nothing special in opensuse that is different from other linuxes
as far as the compilation of lammps is concerned.
the requirements of lammps are fairly low and well documented in
the lammps manual pages. please re-read them carefully.
if you notice things that you don't understand, please consult
a local expert on compiling (parallel) programs on linux. that
will probably help you more than anything that can be done
through a mailing list.
the minimal test that you need to be able to do is to compile
and run a (simple) "hello world"-style parallel program on your
machine. if that fails, your problems are not lammps problems.
