job running but does not output

Hi LAMMPS users:

I wonder if some of you have such experience: The job is running according to what I see by using “qstat” (also the processors are indeed fully loaded), but no output is generated. The output file and the log file is stuck at some time step (that time step is random if tried multiple times) and never update. No dump or restart file is created. However, there is no error reported either in the output or the log.

The thing is that I cannot find a way to figure out whether this is a trouble with my model or it’s our clusters’ problem. If it is a bad model/simulation, other than the thermal output and log file, are there other ways to find error information?

I do get thing fixed if I switched to AMD nodes (our cluster has Intel and AMD nodes, the troubled ones are Intel but they are faster :frowning: ). Could it be possible that the Intel nodes are malfunctioning and causing the problem?

Thanks.

You should try running interactively (on less procs if needed) so you
can see the output.

Hello Steve:

For some reason I need to output more frequent than usual, say per 20 step. Could this be the reason?

no, why should that matter?

however, could it be, that it has nothing to do with the
type of machine, but that you just have run out of disk
quota on the machine where it doesn't produce output?
