I guess that you are already aware of the fact that the KIM
implementation in LAMMPS is incompatible with the new API V1.1.
Are there any plans on fixing this, maybe even before Aachen?
I'm currently updating my model driver for the new version and would
like to use LAMMPS for an easy way of comparing my results.

Thanks for the message. We have updated the LAMMPS interface to KIM for v1.1.0, which includes bug fixes and expanded support for KIM models.
I've sent this to the LAMMPS group, but they have been on vacation. I expect that they will make the new version available sometime this week.
Look for an announcement on the openkim.org webpage.
