[lammps-users] About the simulation box and restarting file

Dear LAMMPS users,

I am trying to cut some simulation box length in one direction. But it looks LAMMPS only can deform the box by using “fix deform”. That will not only change the simulation box but also do the system geometry proportionally. I do want keep the geometry. The cutting in my system only working on the vacuum part. One way I did is to convert the binary restarting file to the editable one using restart2data tool and change the lower and upper boundary of the box by hand. However, the group information got lost in the generated readable file once I made the conversion.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Your kind help would be most appreciated.
