[lammps-users] doubt regarding fix deform

hi all

The fix deform is only applicable for the periodic boundaries. But if I want to see the some of the surface parameter by using shrink boundaries which fix command I can used in the place of fix deform. Is there anyway to solve such probelms?
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

If you're asking how to deform a non-periodic sample, e.g. apply a shear,
then typically you would apply some boundary condition to
atoms at that free surface, e.g. drag them off to one side so that
their motion induces a shearing force on the rest of the atoms.
