Hi,

I’m very much enjoying LAMMPS. Thank you for the authors of LAMMPS.

I’m curious about fictitious mass effect.

  • I’d like to know how LAMMPS deals with the fictitious mass for NVT and NPT ensembles.

  • Is there any study on the fictitious mass using LAMMPS? If so, please inform me of the literature.

Both the NVT and NPT integrators use a damping constant which
is like a ficititious piston mass. They are standard Nose/Hoover implementations
so any literature you read on NH is applicable to LAMMPS NVT/NPT.
