[lammps-users] Friction Example

Dear Steve,

I was just looking at the example of Friction wherein two asperity collides each other & some of the atoms diffuse into each other.

I was just trying to find the way to quantify the transfer volume or rate. What i apparently mean is that what is the way to calculate the material transfer when two bodies come in contact with each other. In some of cases, the atoms don’t even get completely transferred so how to ascertain that whether it is diffused/weared or not?

Eagerly awaiting your response.

Warm Regards,
Saurav

I don't know, but it sounds like something easier to post-process
than compute on the fly.

Steve

Hi Steve,

thanks for your response. Can u briefly guide on how can it be post processed it. Manual way to do it would be count the no. of atoms I guess.

Regards,
Saurav

yes, to do any post-processing you will need to write some code
or a script to read the dump file and extract what you want. Pizza.py
can help, if you know Python.
