[lammps-users] How to have Lipid Bilayer in tensionless state

Hello Everyone,

I am doing the Lipid Bilayer simulation using a mesoscopic model namely Dissipative Particle Dynamics. My goal is to study the Lipid bilayer thermal fluctuations, when the lipid bilayer is in tensionless state.

I am able to have tensionless bilayer by initially having bilayer in random state with a particular area per lipid.

  1. If the tension for this random bilayer is greater than zero, I reduce the area per lipid till I reach almost tensionless bilayer state.
  2. If the tension for this random bilayer is less than zero, I increase the area per lipid till I reach almost tensionless bilayer state.

But this process is very lengthy and when I am dealing with really bigger bilayers it takes me a lot of time playing with this area per lipid to get tensioless bilayer.

I know fix deform can help me with this but I am not able to do it. Is there any example where I can learn how to get tensioless bilayer.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you looked at using fix npt?
