[lammps-users] Keeping stress fixed in one direction

Hi everybody,

I need to apply the uniaxial tensile load on a structure (say on X direction) to some point and then I want to change the direction of loading from X to say Y direction while I need to keep the sigma_X unchanged. My question is, if simply applying fix setforce command to NULL 0 0, is correct to keep stress in X direction fixed or do I need other constraints?

I think you want fix box/relax not just fix setforce.
Using fix setforce NULL will tend to minimize the
force to 0 in a dimension, not keep it at a specified
value.
