[lammps-users] questions about vmd-lammpsplugin downloads and installations

Hi,
I have creat a short chain alkane use Material Studio, then use the msi2lmp command to transfer it to the lmp format, after that I edit the file again to fit it to the data.reax format in the reax examples folder. But when I try to use the in.data to dump the model out and use VMD to view it, it turns out that the bonded information is wrong. Then I try to search the maillist to find the follwing links:
http://sites.google.com/site/akohlmey/software/lammps-icms/vmd-lammpsplugin-20100810.tar.gz?attredirects=0&d=1
Unfortunetly, I failed to download the plugins packages. I am wondering whether there could be someone who willing to send me a copy of the packages and if possible give me some guide to install it in the vmd successfully. Thank you in advance.
Cheers,
-Shuping

Hi,
I have creat a short chain alkane use Material Studio, then use the
msi2lmp command to transfer it to the lmp format, after that I edit the file
again to fit it to the data.reax format in the reax examples folder. But
when I try to use the in.data to dump the model out and use VMD to view it,
it turns out that the bonded information is wrong. Then I try to search the
maillist to find the follwing links:

Unfortunetly, I failed to download the plugins packages\. I am wondering

whether there could be someone who willing to send me a copy of the packages

have you considered, that the file has been replaced with a newer version?

if you trim of the flags and the file name from the URL, you get:

http://sites.google.com/site/akohlmey/software/lammps-icms/

and when looking a bit closer, you would have seen that
the plugin source is now at:

http://sites.google.com/site/akohlmey/software/lammps-icms/vmd-lammpsplugin-20100812.tar.gz?attredirects=0&d=1

and if possible give me some guide to install it in the vmd successfully.

compile it and copy it over the existing plugin.
if that is too complicated for you, you better
wait until the next vmd test version is released.

in any case, i would have some doubt that this
is the cause of your problem. dump files don't
contain any bonding information, so VMD will
guess it, unless you provide the information
through some other measure. since lammps
doesn't store any element information in the
dump, VMD will most of the time guess wrong.
