[lammps-users] Regarding "-partition" command-line argument

Dear users,

To do the PRD calculation, I knew that “-partition” command should be used for parallel replicas.
But my case, if I want to use 16 processors, only the case of “-partition 16x1” was working and other cases of “16x2 or 16x4 … etc” was terminated abruptly w/o error message. I don’t know whether this comes from the hardware problem or not.

Thank you,

SP

please read the docs. for 16x2 you need 32 processors and 64 for 16x4.

cheers,

I know that I used 32 cpus for 16x2, 16 cpus for 4x4. But every cases but Nx1 were not working.

When you run with multiple partitions, an error can be
printed in one of the lo-level log files, and not at the
top level (e.g. to the screen or master log file). So if
one of your replicas crashed, that would look like silently
killling the run. So I would look for an error message in
any of the 16 log.lammps.N files.
