[lammps-users] runs longer than 2^31 timesteps

Is there any easy way to have runs which are longer than 2^31 timesteps? … Other than “just restart the run after 2^31 timesteps”?

Thanks,
Craig

is there a reason to not restart?

Craig,

You can also do it without a restart file if you run a couple billion timesteps, reset_timestep, run a couple billion more, etc.

It isn’t trivial, and all that necessary to change LAMMPS to deal with explicitly counting more timesteps than that.
