[lammps-users] temp/rescale in fix

Hi all,

I am having problem understanding the fix temp/rescale command.
In the users’ manual it only explained that the “velocities of atoms are rescaled explicitly”. But I still don’t know what exactly is happening when this command is carried out.
Here my interpretation from the manual.
By using this command, the velocities of all the atoms in the group specified in the command will be multiplied with a factor (fraction of one), thus resulting the tempreture of the group to decrease.

Can anyone help me with that? Many thanks.

If the atoms are at a T of 1.1 and the target is 1.0, then
the velocity of all atoms are reduced (by the same scale factor)
so that the T becomes 1.0.
