finally after some hours of trouble I got installation of LAMMPS with Ubuntu
I have Ubuntu 10.04 (beta1) and LAMMPS 30March2010
follow description here: points 1-7

but don’t install tcsh as still stated in point 2, if you’ve already installed then uninstall it under System/Administration/Synaptic Package Manager
in point 7 change
…/…/lmp_ubuntu < in.crack
to
…/…/src/lmp_ubuntu < in.crack
then the example prg. in point 7 will run and you know that it works at least
