[lammps-users] Wall and periodic boundaries

Hello,
I have been working with LAMMPS for 2 years.
Now I have a question.
Can anyone explain me, why Wall command does not work with periodic boundaries.
Why I have to split my solid only under non-periodic boundaries.

thanks,

very simple. with periodic boundaries, you cannot tell
on which side of the wall a particle is, a periodic image
might be close and on the other side.

To be more precise, LAMMPS does not let you define
a wall in a dimension that is periodic. But you can
have x walls in a system that is periodic in y.

Walls and periodicity are incompatible. I don't see where
it makes sense to have both in a single dimension.
