"log.lammps" file

Hello!
I am running a program that it takes a few days to collect all the results data in output files.I can observe my output files, progressing in time but still my log.lammps file is empty! I do not know what is wrong? and how can I see the data in log. file?
Thanks,
Fatemeh

how _much_ data would be showing up in there?
usually file i/o is block buffered (4kBto 8kB on typical
machines).

you may be able to enforce synchronization with

thermo_modify flush yes

axel.

Thanks Axel.
I have :
run 40,000,000
timestep 0.005
and they are dumped each 2000 steps.

???

I meant: I do not know how much kB are these log.lammps files! still no log file to check! but I will try “thermo_modify flush yes” command!

that depends on what you have set the thermo keyword to.
if you didn't set it, you'll only get a summary at the end.
check out the documentation.

also, please try to think as real scientist. you can _easily_
get an estimate, if you do a 100 step, 1000 step, 10000 step run
and extrapolate. i would _never_ start a long running calculation
without knowing exactly what i would get as output.
