more readable format of dump-files

Dear all,

I wonder if there is a possibility to format the dump-files in a more readable way, e.g. by separating the data by tabstopps instead of separating the data by a space character.

Thanks in advance for a hint

Dear all,

there is not much of a difference between "whitespace" and tabs.
you can easily convert between those with a little filter command.
e.g.: tr ' ' '\t' < in > out
i don't think it would make them more readable, though.

moreover dump files are not really meant to be read by humans except
for debugging. if anything, they we would need a portable binary format
that can handle large problems more efficiently.

in general, tabs are evil and should be avoided wherever possible.

cheers,
    axel.

The dump_modify format command could be used:
dump_modify 1 format "%d\t%g\t%g"

but I can't imagine any post-processing parser cares.
