Tunable

I am interested in learning more about three things: 1.) the extent to which the design of ‘tunable’ materials having the property of functional plasticity is an explicit objective, 2.) is there anything like a catalog of successful results in realizing this objective, and 3.) special problems/opportunities that such materials may pose with respect to technology transfer; e.g., materials which manifest this property may have significant potential for functional synergies when combined with other such materials, yet go commercially unrealized because technology transfer may be unduly locked into the silo of ‘one off’ licensing predicated on a tacit failure to recognize such potential synergies.
