Urgent Query

Dear Sir/Mam,
I am a beginner in LAMMPS and I’ve been facing a lot of small small issues. My query is that how can we edit a file in the “examples” directory". Each time I press the left arrow, it gets written “D” and for the right one it becomes “C”. Similarly for the upper and lower arrows, it gets written as “A” & “B” respectively. I am unable to edit it.Whereas in the sandia labs tutorial https://lammps.sandia.gov/tutorials/sor13/SoR_02a_Handout_Getting_Started_with_LAMMPS.pdf , its mentioned that removing the lines starting with # would give a different result.

Kindly help me. I would be grateful to you for your help.
Thank You

Dear sir,

This might be solution for your problem -> https://vim.fandom.com/wiki/Fix_arrow_keys_that_display_A_B_C_D_on_remote_shell
or -> https://stackoverflow.com/questions/14837248/arrow-keys-in-putty-returning-a-d-b-instead-of-moving-the-cursor

I’m pretty sure about this is not LAMMPS related problem. You should find the answer from other source :slight_smile:

However, if you want to use “more” easy-to-use text editor, try nano.

Thanks!
