Technically you can use MSM for this type of 1D system, though I have seen issues with convergence and the error estimator not being correct if the system is not either fully periodic or fully nonperiodic. It doesn’t hurt to try it out though. You could also try a Wolf summation with a very large cutoff. It may not be as expensive as you would expect.
