Arrow width not showing in Displacement vectors

Dear developers,

I have an issue with the displacement field of two different configurations (final and initial coordinates are in the same .xyz file). It happens that when adding the modifications of displacement vectors, I am not able manipulate the arrow width (which in the attached figure shows as 5, but if I change to any other value, there are no changes in the plot). Could you please help me with this problem?

We were unable to reproduce this error on our end. Could you please provide the structure file and the OVITO state file? You can either share them here or send them to [email protected] if you prefer not to make them public.

Also, which version of OVITO Pro are you using?

Thank you for your file. I was able to adjust the arrow width normally, even when using your state file.

  • Have you tried using extreme values (e.g., 0.01 or 100) to amplify any visible changes?
  • Could you try adjusting the arrow width and then moving / rotating the structure within the viewport to force a redraw of the scene?
  • Lastly, could you provide the output of the “Help” → “System Information” dialog?

Here is my reference image showing the adjusted arrows:

One more thing - I noticed that you set the arrow transparency to 1.3%. Having a small but nonzero transparency can increase rendering times, since the rendering pipeline must switch to a mode that supports transparent objects. This typically causes a performance hit without any noticeable visual difference. Therefore, I recommend setting the transparency either to 0% or to a more significant value if transparency is desired.
