Born_matrix enable option for pair_lj_cut_coul_cut

Hi,
I see for certain potentials in LAMMPS like the pair_lj_cut_coul_cut, bond_style fene, there is an option born_matrix_enable. Can anyone tell me what is the need for that? Also suggest me the theory for calculating it.
