Can I use fix momentum for this purpose?

Dear everyone,
I am trying to run a simulation of cascade which begins at the surface of my system. As the ion impact with the surface, many atoms will be sputtered. I need to delete the sputtered atoms maybe every 1000 steps, because this is more convenient. But in this way after a long simulation time, the system (atoms left) will rotate. I am wondering can I use ‘fix 1 all momentum angular’ to eliminate the rotation. And if I use this fix, will it change the dynamics of the system or alter the basic physics results, e.g. changing the trajectory of the atoms or distribution of the defects. Or there is any other possible way to achieve my goal? Can anybody give me some suggestions?
Thanks for your help!

Best Regards
Liu
