coul/wolf single enable

Is anyone aware of the reasoning behind disabling the single function in the coul/wolf pair style? seems the single function is fully implemented there (says for the pair part of the potential?) but the single_enable flag is set to 0.

well, the comment " // NOTE: single() method below is not yet correct" is a strong hint.
and git annotate reveals that this comment was added in commit b58e008caeafaf5c0055e8580c351d38d27a4269 about 5 years after the original file was added.
