yes. in principle, every system can be build, but it may
not always be the most convenient way.
if you can define the shape of your object with the "region"
command, combining multiple regions, if necessary and
otherwise want a regular crystal structure, it should be
straightforward. if you have more specific needs, it may
be more convenient to use some other tool or write a
script or program to generate a data file.
if you want a more specific answer, you need to describe
in more detail, what kind of properties and shape you need
for your "nanowire".
