Please keep the list in the loop.
I'm not seeing what your problem/question is.
You set the cutoff to 2.5 and the model responds.
Just b/c it doesn't respond the way you expect,
doesn't mean LAMMPS is doing anything wrong.

First you said the long cutoff causes your system to
collapse. Now you say the system doesn't change.
If you want an answer, you need to state your question
more clearly.
