How to keep selected atoms in the first frame and track them across all frames?

Dear OVITO users,

I selected a subset of atoms based on their positions in the first frame using the [Expression Selection] modifier. Now, I would like to keep this selection fixed and track the same atoms in all subsequent frames throughout the trajectory.

Could anyone kindly suggest how to achieve this?

Hi Tao,

That’s what the Freeze Property modifier is for. See also this tutorial in the OVITO manual.
