With this units, by changing to the corresponding format, I have successfully run this basic simulation in XMD. Therefore I think is a problem in the units of the EAM table file.

The LAMMPS EAM files are in the original DYNAMO format (the
first EAM code). I don't know if that is the same format
or units as XMD EAM files. Since the other LAMMPS potential files
work fine, you must not be matching the units in your new file
to the existing ones ...
