Try running your lattice at 300K without the indenter. It appears
to just melt without the particles interacting very much. I think
you probably have the LJ potential parameterized wrong for metal
units. If you can run the lattice at T=300 and have it equilibrate
and conserve energy and T, then adding the indenter should not
be a problem.
