This has been discussed several times on the mail list
recently. There may be some remaining bugs in the AIREBO
potential. Some AIREBO experts are looking into it. But
they haven't reported any bugs to fix yet. It's also possible
your model/simulation is at fault. Depositing atoms is a non-trivial
process and there are many ways to screw it up.
