I am not sure if this is possible in lammps. In case it is not possible,
variable variable_name equal bound(group,xmin,region_id)
may give you some clue.

why not compute it the old fashion way
with pencil and paper? at least for simple
cases, where you don't use the intersection
or union of multiple regions, the volume of a
region should be know from its definition.
