Dear Lammps users,
I am trying to visualise my output using xmovie but the xmovie directory is missing in the tools directory when I try to install.
I am using the 29 Oct 2020 stable version. Any suggestions on this please? I tried to search the mailing list and unfortunately
it shows the error “Not found” for specific threads. Attached the screenshot here.
xmovie has been obsolete for a very long time, never been properly ported to 64-bit platforms, and thus was removed from the distribution over 4 years ago.
the LAMMPS home page has been moved from lammps.sandia.gov to lammps.org last week and a copy of the mailing list archive is no longer available at the new URL.
you can still either go to https://sourceforge.net/p/lammps/mailman/lammps-users/ or https://matsci.org/c/lammps/lammps-users/ to view and search the mailing list archives.
a list of visualization tools that have been reported to work with LAMMPS is at https://lammps.org/viz.html
also, LAMMPS can produce snapshot images with the dump image commands and - if you have ffmpeg installed - also movies with the dump movie: https://docs.lammps.org/dump_image.html
Thank you for the information Axel
