Dear LAMMPS users,
There is a postdoctoral position open in our group “Multiscale Simulation of Earth Surface Processes” at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg, Germany.
In the project, funded by German Research Foundation, we apply LAMMPS for modeling wind-blown sand and dust with granular electrostatics. More precisely, our implementation includes, among other things, non-bonded attractive particle-particle (van der Waals) interactions and a widely used, efficient implementation of hydrodynamics and particle-fluid interactions that builds on Anderson and Haff, Acta Mech. Suppl. pp 21–51 (1991). However, in this project we want to check how granular electrostatics may affect the initiation of particle transport, in response to turbulent wind fluctuations, particle-bed impacts, etc.
