I am trying to get the ionic entries using MPRester and getting the following error for the last few days.
pymatgen.ext.matproj.MPRestError: REST query returned with error status code 503.Content: b’\n\n503 Service Unavailable\n\n
The server is temporarily unable to service your\nrequest due to maintenance downtime or capacity\nproblems. Please try again later.
Please let me know if there is any problem in the server.

I have the same problem. This might be timeout error because the MP servers are overloaded. I don’t know if this relates to some changes in MP interface recently. Any MP developers can confirm this?

I am having the same problem since yesterday, error 503. Is there any info out there on when this might be resolved?

Do you have Materials Project API key? If not please register by your email on website Materials Project :: Developer Tools. If you have, please edit MPRester(api_key="what you have")
At least in my case, I was using the right key, but this issue has resolved itself for me.
