Dear LAMMPS users,
I am doing a simulation with Aug. 2017 version LAMMPS.
I first read a data file, do thermal relaxation, and write into restart files.
However, when I want to read_restart files and continue the thermal relaxation, such as fix npt, there will be a segmentation fault.
I have not encountered this issue previously, possibly because I use lattice commend to build up the system, instead of using data file this time.
I am very confused about this issue, and I will appreciate it so much if you can give me any clue on solving it.
Best regards,
Xiao Jia

there is no tangible information here that allows to make any recommendation.
the first thing i would recommend to do is to try out the latest patch version of LAMMPS in order to make certain, you have all known bugs fixed in your code and are not asking for help with a problem that is known and has been fixed. there have been several issues with restarts that have been resolved since summer 2017.
axel.
Dear Dr. Kohlmeyer,
Thank you so much for your kindly reply!
I will first try the latest version of LAMMPS,
and if the issue still happens,
I will build up and share a small system for a quick examination of the issue.

Xiao Jia
Dear Dr. Kohlmeyer,
I tried the latest version of LAMMPS and the segmentation fault in read_restart still happens.
I have targeted the problem is that I used pair hybrid, and when I set more than 2 sub-styles,
I will encounter the segmentation issue when I do the read_restart.
To confirm this, I artificially removed one sub-style, and leave 2 sub-styles in the simulation.
In this case, there will be no issue to do the read_restart.
Could you give me some hints on solving this problem in using read_restart when pair hybrid has more than 2 sub-styles?
Thanks!
Best regards,
Xiao Jia
I need a minimal test example that reproduces the issue reliably and I need to know your OS/hardware/compiler (best add an “info all” command to your input and send me the output of it).
Thanks, Axel.
