Dear LAMMPS Users,
I have tried to keep my slab fixed through the fix walls slab setforce 0.0 0.0 0.0 command however it happens to move all over the place. Can anyone please help?

You just have to look at Newton’s laws of motion to find an explanation. What exactly happens to particles that do not experience a force? Are the commands in your input sufficient so that the slab atoms stay at rest according to those laws?
Also, there are multiple ways to immobilize atoms. Perhaps you are better off with a different one.
P.S.: Please also note that the term “fixed” is ambiguous, especially in the context of LAMMPS which has a “fix” command (so “fixed” would mean ‘subject to a fix command’). What you would try to say is either “fixated” or “fixed in space” or (best) “immobilized”.
Hi Axel,
Thanks for your reply. The particles that don’t experience a force means it won’t move. So is it to do with my pair coefficient, do I need to add for the slab?
That is not what Newton’s first law of motion says. Please look it up.
