First of all, thank you very much for your answers. In my program I created two areas, namely the workpiece area and the tool area. The lattice constant of the tool region is 3.5656, and the lattice constant of the workpiece region is 5.431. I haven’t changed the lattice constant of the tool area, but only the crystal plane and crystal orientation of the workpiece area. Does the change in the lattice distance of the workpiece area affect the lattice constant or lattice distance of the tool area?

i have explained everything that needs to be explained. if you need to know more, please study the documentation for the lattice and region commands carefully. they are complete and detailed. in any case you showed LAMMPS behaved exactly as documented.
